Ofsted Report 2018
Following our recent Ofsted Inspection on 13th September, I am delighted with the published outcome, which confirms what we as a school firmly believe: that we continue to be a good school. The report is very complimentary about the children’s good behaviour and eagerness to learn, our effective safeguarding and our good progress since the previous inspection. It recognised the huge range of extra-curricular activities provided here, and the warm, friendly atmosphere. “Wellfield is a calm, safe and purposeful school where pupils are well behaved and want to learn.”
It also recognises teachers’ high expectations in lessons, and the good quality of teaching, resulting in strong progress. The report also confirms our own and the governors’ understanding of how we can continue to build on this to further improve. “Teachers’ work to develop the most able pupils’ confidence to challenge themselves with more difficult activities is beginning to bear fruit.”
I was grateful too for the many overwhelmingly positive responses that staff, parents (and pupils) gave to the inspector’s survey, online and via text. The children were fantastic, and a credit to their parents. Thank you!
