Welcome to the Wellfield Junior School Website
At Wellfield Junior School we are extremely proud of our school and have worked hard to create a learning environment in which all our children can thrive. We recognise that partnership between School and home, between teachers and parents is essential if your children are to be given the best opportunities to which they are entitled. Our website aims to provide an overview of what we do, how we do it and the education our children experience. We hope you find it useful and informative.
The School premises are currently closed except for children of key workers and some specifically identified children.
Mr Dutton’s Update
School is closed to most pupils due to the national lockdown, from 5th January 2021 until further announcements are made by the government. Remote education is provided through Google Classroom. If any parents are having difficulty accessing their child's account, please email the school on email@example.com. If your child does not have any access to a laptop or tablet, or you do not have fixed broadband Wi-Fi at home, please get in touch and we will do everything we can to help with the loan of a laptop.
Balancing your own work from home alongside supervising children with their remote education can be very difficult at times, so please feel able to adopt a flexible approach using our daily lessons, which can be accessed at a time of the day to suit you and the availability of your devices at home. We fully appreciate that most primary aged children may need some support and encouragement to get the most from their learning, and are grateful for any support you can give them with this routine. At the same time, our staff are available to answer questions and provide feedback throughout the normal school day, though the response may not be instant! Children need regular breaks, exercise and fresh air to help them concentrate and learn. If you have any concerns about the welfare of your child, please do get in touch. Guidance for Parents
If your child is eligible to attend school, please ensure that you do not send them to school if they are unwell and particularly if they are showing any of the recognised symptoms of Covid-19. In this case, they should be tested and the household should isolate pending the results of a test. If negative, they can return to school once well enough, unless another household member develops symptoms; if positive, they and the household and any contacts should remain isolating in line with the Stay at Home Guidance.
We welcome prospective parents and would encourage you to make an appointment to visit us during the normal school day. Please contact the main school office on tel: 0161 912 3685 to make suitable arrangements.
